STROLLING THROUGH THE CELLARS, THE OIL MILLS AND THE DAIRIES OF TUSCIA REGION

FOOD AND WINE TASTING IN LAZIO, TUSCANY AND UMBRIA - 6 DAY BUS TOUR


DAY ONE: ROME - VITERBO
Arrival in Rome by plane. Panoramic guided tour of Rome by coach with a local guide, including the historic centre or the Vatican, (depending on flight arrivals). Departure for Viterbo (Lazio)  in the afternoon in Gran Touring Bus. Arrival and booked hotel accommodation .Wine tasting - an aperitif with the wine EST EST EST of Montefiascone and some local products. Typical dinner in a medieval restaurant. Overnight stay in hotel.


DAY TWO: MONTEPULCIANO- MONTALCINO- CHIANTI HILLS
Breakfast in hotel and then on to Pienza (Tuscany) and guided tour of the town. Located between the towns of Montepulciano and Montalcino, Pienza is the "touchstone of Renaissance urbanism." In 1996, UNESCO declared the town a World Heritage Site, and in 2004 the entire valley, the Val dOrcia, was included on the list of UNESCOs World Cultural Landscapes. Tour of the Chianti hills with wine food and tasting  lunch in "Castello Banfi": four courses from appetizers to desserts, and four wines such as BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO and CHIANTI.  Back to Viterbo.  Dinner in a restaurant in Viterbo. Overnight stay in hotel.


DAY THREE: CANINO - TARQUINIA - TUSCANIA
Breakfast in hotel and then on to Canino (Lazio) for a visit in an oil mill. The hills that surround Canino are cultivated with grapes and olives; the famous extra virgin olive oil, from the "Canina" olive variety, has been given DOP with Reg. CE n. 1263/96. Tasting of extra virgin olive oil. Departure for Tarquinia (Lazio) and guided tour of Etruscan tombs. In 2004 the Etruscan necropolis of Tarquinia was declared a national heritage by the organisation UNESCO. Lunch in a restaurant in Tarquinia. Next stop - Tuscania (Lazio). Guided tour of the medieval town. Dinner in a particular restaurant in Tuscania. Back to Viterbo. Overnight stay in hotel.

DAY FOUR: ORVIETO - MONTEFALCO

Breakfast in hotel and departure for the enticing Orvieto (Umbria). Tour of the town,  with its imposing position (perched atop soaring cliffs) and the grand Gothic Duomo. Also fascinating is the evocative underground Orvieto, a labyrinth of tunnels, caves, galleries, wells and rooms: the visit includes the best-known part of underground Orvieto, the "Pozzo di San Patrizio" (Saint Patrick´s Well), an incredible deep well lined with spiraling ramps built by Antonio Sangallo the Younger. Then on to Montefalco (Umbria) for the lunch. Tasting-lunch in a cellar of Montefalco to taste the precious wines of the area, like the Sagrantino wine. Back to Viterbo for a typical dinner. Overnight stay in hotel.


DAY FIVE: LAKE BOLSENA - GRADOLI - BOLSENA- MONTEFIASCONE
Breakfast in hotel and then on to Capodimonte (lake Bolsena, Lazio). Boat trip on the lake. Wine tasting and lunch in an ancient inn near the lake. Stopping on a dairy to taste the goat cheese. Back to Viterbo in the evening. Dinner in a restaurant.  Overnight stay in hotel.

DAY SIX: VITERBO - ROME

Breakfast in hotel. Guided tour of this splendid medieval town. Lunch in the medieval quarter. Back to Rome. End of our services.
