VITERBO
Viterbo, quiet town situated in the north of the Latium region, (one hour from Rome) is an ancient Papal city, an Etruscan settlement and a medieval centre of great interest.
The Papal Palace, is the home of the longest known Conclave, cum-clave, in the history of the Church.
Viterbo is known for its Etruscan archaeologic sites , genuine and typical cuisine, its oils and wines, for its thermal baths with hot springs, for its lakes (Bolsena and Vico :15 min.) and seaside resorts (Tarquinia and Montalto : 40 min.), for its important buildings, fountains and churches which belong to the Etruscan and medieval period.
Viterbo is near the Cimini Mountains , an important attraction of the Viterbo/Tuscia area.
A lot of rich Italian architecture is hidden in the little towns in these mountains (Villa Lante in Bagnaia, Farnese Palace in Caprarola, the Papacqua Fountain in Soriano nel Cimino).
