VITERBO AND THE ITINERARY OF THE EUCHARISTIC MIRACLES
1st day: Arrival in Rome and tour of the Vatican and of Saint Peter.
Lunch in a restaurant. In the afternoon departure for the pilgrimage to Alatri and visit
of the Church situated inside the imposing walls. In the Basilica of Alatri and the
Cathedral of Saint Paul the Apostle, the sacred relics of the fourth Eucharistic miracle
which took place in 1228 are preserved. In the evening departure for Lanciano, dinner
and overnight stay in a hotel between Alatri and Lanciano.
2nd day: breakfast in the hotel and departure for Lanciano.
Free time and visit of the Church of the Eucharistic Miracle where the “Host” is exposed
and continues to be “Flesh” which has been scientifically diagnosed as a part of the
myocardium. In the evening departure for Viterbo.
Accomodation in a downtown hotel, dinner in a restaurant and overnight stay.
3rd day: breakfast in the hotel, guided tour of the medieval historical centre of Viterbo and
lunch in a restaurant. In the afternoon a visit of the marvellous
Basilicaof La Quercia.
Dinner in a restaurant and overnight stay.
4th day: breakfast in the hotel and departure for Siena. Guided tour of the town and of the
Basilica of Saint Francis. Free time for lunch.
Departure for Orvieto and tour of the town and of the Cathedral. Departure for Bolsena.
The Sanctuary in Orvieto’s Cathedral is linked to the miracle of Bolsena. Pietro da Praga,
the Bohemian priest didn’t believe that the transubstantiation, that is the conversion of the
bread and wine into the Lord’s Body and blood was true. One day in the year 1263, while
celebrating Mass near the tomb of Saint Christina of Bolsena, he saw some drops of blood
dripping from the consecrated Host. In the evening, return to Viterbo, dinner in a
restaurant and overnight stay.
5th day: breakfast in the Hotel and return trip. |
